Westbrook Residence
Westbrook Residence
The Westbrook Residence offers an alternative model for suburban development in Austin’s evolving post-war neighborhoods.
By embracing a lower building-to-landscape ratio, the home is thoughtfully sited to immerse its occupants in nature, engaging with a series of surrounding gardens. The residence is composed of four distinct masonry volumes that create intimate, enclosed rooms. These solid forms are balanced by a dynamic, fluid space between them that connects directly to the outdoors, enabling a seamless transition between interior and exterior.
This duality allows the family to inhabit spaces that alternate between pre-modern enclosure and modern openness, providing an adaptable living experience that honors the historical context while embracing contemporary lifestyle needs.
