Cuernavaca Residence

Nestled within a wooded lot, the residence forms a deliberate ensemble with an existing pool house, whose board-formed concrete walls establish the material language for the new construction. The house is composed of a restrained yet tactile palette: rift-sawn oak, mill-finished steel, galvanized metal panels, and concrete—each material deployed with variation in orientation and pattern to create visual rhythm and depth.

Strategically framed views connect the interior to its broader context: eastward to the limestone shelf of the Colorado River, north to a rolling meadow, and west toward a grove of oaks and the shared pool house. A double-height porch with an outdoor fireplace functions as an open-air family room, extending the living space into the landscape. Above, a rooftop deck on the second floor captures prevailing breezes and offers panoramic views to the cliffs beyond.
